Anand Ashram, Centre for Holistic Health and Meditation, was founded by Anand Krishna in January 14, 1991. Inspired by Anand Krishna's own experience after misteriously relieved from leukemia, the Centre aimed to introducing meditation as the foundation of holistic health, especially for those who lived in a big and busy city such as Jakarta

Located in northern part of Indonesia's capital, Jakarta, Anand Ashram has surprisingly attracted more and more people into meditation. Those who attended the meditation class varied from different kind of profession, ethnicity, and religion background. From taxi-driver to Chief Executive Officer, from Javanesse to Chinesse, from Moslem to Buddhist. Anand Ashram has itself experienced that meditation has no boundaries.

Just like a small tree grows bigger and bigger, so does Anand Ashram. Up until now, more than 20,000 people from 19 countries have attended meditation program, from "Stress Management", "Neo Zen Reiki", "Kundalini Yoga" and so on. One third of them followed full program, while the rest preferred to selected program. All meditation class, from "Stress Management" for beginners to "Neo Zen Training" and "Death Experience" for advanced practitioners are directly directed by Anand Krishna himself.

Responding to the growing enthusiasm on meditation not only from the people of Jakarta, but also from the provinces all over Indonesia, Anand Krishna started to write books on meditation in the mid of 90's. More than 40 titles have been released in Indonesia's book market, and at least 320,000 copies have been sold, inspiring many more people to learn and practice meditation.

For us in Anand Ashram, meditation does not correspond only to physical health. Only through meditation a higher consciousness -- a consciousness necessary to resolve social, economical and political problems in Indonesia -- can be realized. Meditation is the way of life.

LITTLE BIT ABOUT MYSELF

Back in 1991, I was dying of cancer - Leukimie. A year later and after hospitalization in various countries, one day i met this Buddhist Lama, who changed my whole outlook towards life. His words were very simple, his English broken but understandable : WHY ARE YOU IN CONFLICT WITH DEATH...? STOP FIGHTING, ACCEPT IT - YOU HAVE TRIED LIFE, TRY DEATH..!

A week later, I was cured and the monk mysteriously disappe ared ! Like a fairy tale right? But that was THE Turning Point in my Life. I closed my business and here I am now, trying to share my Life, my Love, my Laughter with you.

For last 5 years now, I have been running this Centre For Meditation, which is more like an Institute for Self-Awareness. I started my song alone, but now more than 900 people have joined me (until Dec. 1996). Some of them have joined the cause. They are here, together with me to share their smiles, their joys, their love with you.

Now, after reading this - don't you ever think that i am a GURU or something like that. Your Gurus have long faces, celibate : whereas i am all smiles, i am EVEN Married :)) - That's a far cry from your concept of Guru, right? Neither am i a Thinker or a Philosopher, they waste their time in defining Life, whereas i simply live it. And most important - i do not represent anybody, neither heavens nor earth, yet i love both the skies as well as the world.

i am a very very simple person, very ordinary. i had a natural birth on September 1st 1956, no prophesies beforehand, no heavenly bells ringing. Yes i did have some strange childhood experiences, visions perhaps - who knows and who bothers? Many children have those kind of experiences, you may have had too.

i have no heavenly mission, i am simply here to share what i have, with YOU ! By chance i have stumbled upon the Master-Key to the treasure of Bliss, of Ananda within each and every being. i have unlocked it for myself, the Master-Key is now available to one and all, come and take it from me and pass it on to others !

i am not in hurry, i can wait for eternity. i am calling you, at times you hear me, sometime you don't - no problem, i am not going anywhere, i will always be here waiting for you.

i am here just for YOU ! And i know, YOU are here for me. Whenever you are ready, come and join me - lets walk together for some distance !

I LOOK FORWARD TO

i look forward to one world, not just one 'planet. The word 'planet' is ugly, it sounds so lifeless. i look forward to one big family, not just one mankind. 'Mankind'does not sound right to me, the word only serves to differentiate between man and animal. my concept of one family, is one big family which consists not only of man, but which accomodates also the birds and the beasts, the trees and the plants, the wild roses and the beautiful lawns.

i look forward to one Language, that of the heart. i do not consider a popular tongue as language. Language must be that of the heart. At times, you see somebody shedding tears and no words are spoken, no exchange of communication - yet, you seem to understand what the tears mean to convey to you. This then is the Language of heart.

And most important, i look forward to one Religion - that of Love. Enough is enough, in the name of religion we have fought enough wars. In the name of patriotism, we have been cutting each other's throats. In the name of loyalty, we have done much killing. Shed no more blood. Love, don't you see this is much powerful a weapon than your swords and spears? If you must take up arms, then use this love as your only arm, your only weapon. For, this is the only weapon which can kill someone to eternal life.

I AM INVITING YOU !

Come all of you. Come one, come all. All of you who long for Peace, who share my dreams and hopes. Come and join me in this march of life. i promise not roses, i promise a thorny road ahead. Your feet will bleed and i will not allow you to stop. If you are ready for such a destiny, then come and join me. Did you ask whether i would succeed? Who cares about success? If i succeed, it is going to be our success. And i will not delude you. If i fail, it will be your failure too. We will fail together. But together, we shall leave a dream behind, unfulfilled though - yet a dream for a better world, a dream for peace, for love, for joy eternal.

And perhaps, a thousand years later - someone picks this task up from where we left. The marks of our bleeding feet will inspire this person. His/her heart will start beating for the world and he/she will take up my broken staff. He/she will once again begin the march. He/she will try again to realize this Dream. And, he/she will speak again the same language that i spoke. He/she will love life as i did.

Oh, i do not care whether i succeed or not. Isn't it enough that our bleeding feet shall keep the dream alive? And, the hope for a better world shall never die............
