A press release by and a cordial invitation from the Anand Ashram Foundation and the National Integration Movement
Indonesia, 29 July 2008
We believe in non violence. We refuse violence in any form. Yet we also realize that at times, the society needs radical changes which may involve necessary ‘violence’ in the form of surgery.
We don’t hate the Bali bombers, but we do not appreciate evil doings. For this very reason, we feel that the execution of Bali bombers in days to come would send a clear message to their supporters that violence is not the solution. We understand the urgency of the execution to uphold the supremacy of law and order in the society.
We hereby announce that on the day the Bali bombers are executed - the very same morning at 9 am - we shall conduct a general inter-faith prayer assembly to pray for the souls of the deceased.
We also make an appeal to the Indonesian society and the world community to join us in this prayer. We hope and pray that this step taken will make the radicals realize that Love is the only solution.

“It might be this is the first time for us to face God, Ar-Rahman and Ar-Rahim without asking… We just have grateful to Him…” Watch and see His dancing performance twice a month (on Saturday at One Earth, Ciawi).
The history of the whirling dervishes begins with Mevlana Jelaluddin Rumi who was born in Balkh, (now Afghanistan) between 1200 and 1207. When he was a young boy, his family left their home because of the religious and political climate, just before the invasion of Ghengis Khan. The family eventually settled in Konya, Turkey, where his father, Baha’uddin Valad, was a revered religious scholar and mystic. After his father’s death Rumi took up his father’s position as head of a medrasse (religious school).
Poetry, music and dance, in the name of God, were the only things he could do to express this ocean of love Shams (his friend) had opened in him. His intimacy with the Beloved evoked joy and gratitude in his followers as they gathered for music, sacred chanting and the famous whirling dance.

| 1-2 mins |
|
| 1 |
Start in the seated position, with your eyes closed. Love your body. Start to “dialogue” with your body, speak with each part of your body, from your head to your feet. Invite each part to relax. You may stroke each part. |
| 2 |
Now start on your mind. Sit still and be aware of your breathing. In,…and Out Dont control your breathing, just observe it. Notice how breathing in is cool and breathing out is warm,…. |
| 3 |
Thought will arise and you will feel disturbed by them. This is because you have probably been conditioned that in a state of meditation there should be no thought. If a thought arises, notice and observe how quickly it disappears. Thats the natureof thought - one moment there, one moment gone. |
| 4 |
Observe the play of thoughts. A thought arises. Before its gone, another thought arises. observe the process, and being thus aware of the process, slowly, without forcing, return to your breathing. Separate your self from your thinking. |
| 5 |
In less then 10 minutes, the thoughts will come less frequently. You will have succedeed creating a space between your thoughts. The process of slowing down your thoughts is already an achievement. The longer you go, the more seldom will be your thoughts and you will approach a state of meditation |
| 6 |
Finally, lie down and with your eyes still closed, place your right hand over your heart. Try to hear your heart breathing |
| 7 |
Return to the seated position and remain like that for 1-2 minutes before opening your eyes. |
|
